1965 Honda Dream

Howdy all. Brand new here and seeking pricing info on a 1965 Honda Dream 305.
I have opportunity to pick one up that appears to be all there except no spark. The engine does turn over, just won't start.
Any help on what this little beauty might be worth? It needs a good bit of polish to make anybody's show and shine.

    Thanks all,

    Lonesome (GW) George

Don't suppose there is any way you can add some pics of the Dream....the value is solely based on how complete, original it is and the condition of the badges/tins/tank etc. Maybe around $2000 or so for a super nice one?
No spark is common with the old bikes that have been sitting.....what you don't know is if it was parked because of a problem or the problem comes from being parked. I believe you need a 100% good battery to get that one to fire. Clean the points with fine emery and check the gap/timing. Check for mouse damage to wiring, green connections etc. The "value" of these isn't that of a Scrambler but they are a blast to ride.....massive smile points :)

I have been riding old wings since 1989 now and have not had even one regret. Only joys!. Before that, the only motorcycle I had ever ridden was a Honda Dream that a buddy had brought, brand new, to high school. That was 1965, I was 15 and gave in to peer pressure to try this thing out. The only operating instructions I got was 'one down, 4 up.' I found it somewhat exciting that this machine was quite capable of accelerating at a high rate of speed while being balanced very precariously on the back wheel. This little surprising and unexpected maneuver taking place while attempting to make a left turn into traffic on a very busy major street in downtown Calgary.
I managed to keep this adrenaline rush in check for a good number of years after that escapade.
The best part of the whole experience though was watching my buddy come out after school every day and stand for a few minutes watching all the guys with their Harleys and Triumphs and Nortons. It appeared that he delighted in watching these fellows kick and grunt and jump up and down on their bikes and when there a came a bit of a lull in all the activity, he would say "pay attention guys. This is how it's done." as he just touched the electric start button and this wee machine immediately sprang to life. Ahhhh, memories of the Beach Boys Little Honda song.

    Welcome, George

Had similar experiences at about the same time in Los Angeles. Post pics and details of that 305 and we'll encourage you well beyond the limits of common sense - I promise!

    Thanks all for the replies.

That looks pretty straight, but obviously no way to assess the possibility of drive train probs if it won't start. To what degree do you want to fix it up? Survivor-runner? Like new?

I don't want to change your mind, but I thought you might be interested in this 1983 Honda GL 1100 A. It has been sitting there for a few months now collecting dust.
You better get used to us putting your money to good use.
BTW "apreciado" in Spanish has only one "p" and goes with "muy" rather than "mucho". "Muy apreciado". So, we'll spend your money and teach you Spanish in the same post. How about that? :welcome:

But Juan, he wants to speak "street" Spanish, not Valencian . . . . .

Well, now that you mention it, in Valencian that would be "Molt apreciat". :smilebig:

Wow! I had to look that one up. I guess it's from a different part of Spain because I have never heard it before.
Sangria? Yeah, I can always use some of that... or a lot.

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in replying here. Shaw is playing havoc with my internet. Also, muchas gracias for the wee Spanish lesson. Any help I can get in that department is indeed muy apreciado. Just for the record, I don't know how it could possibly be called 'street Spanish' because what Spanish I have learned has certainly not been on any street. Beaches, yes! In Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta and even a wee bit from Cancun area or even some from Acapulco.
Thinking about that again, maybe you're right. Those time share hawkers on the street can sure teach you a few different words when they want to.
    Anyway, keep the lessons coming.
That is one nice looking 83 and there is no doubt that I would greatly enjoy the trip to Texas but, I actually just bought an 83 up here in the Great White North for 950 Canuck bucks. It doesn't look as nice as that one but, by springtime, I hope to be able to have it in a condition that might bring me a fairly good profit because, as we all know, old 'Wings just keep on being re(motor)cycled!
    Ahahahhhahahahaahhahahhahhahhahhahahhhaaha!!!!
