    It's time for an update.

I lowsided to the right at Grattan. Thankfully, the bike had peg sliders, rear axle sliders, and a tough zeta handlebar and brushguard setup installed. Damage was limited to grinding off the rear brake lever tip, some grinding on the brake guard, and one of the termi rivets. Since this gives me a great excuse to make setup changes, I'm considering a completely different bar setup and debating getting the woodcraft rearsets. (The woodcrafts are awesome parts, but $600 buys an awful lot of Starbucks!) I found this bar pic on the hyper board and am fairly intrigued:

If I go to something like the above, I'll ditch the windsail portions of the brushguard and try to retain the frame parts to protect the levers and reservoirs.

At Grattan, I also discovered the throttle was just way too hard to modulate smoothly at serious lean angles, so did a bandaid fix of +13 base fuel trim within VDST - that made day 3 much more fun and turned it into a wicked fuel pig. :D I'm considering pulling the wideband setup out of the car and using that along with a bazzaz for road tuning. One plus I'm liking with that unit is the ability to run a handlebar switch for dual maps. I'd set the alternate for max mpg. That might get me back over 100 miles per tank for touring rides. I still have yet to get the race cams, those jumped to $800(twice their former amount) and are reportedly brutal for mpg. (Yes, I know it's foolish to even think of fuel economy in light of all these mods, but I was rather spoiled by how the 954 with full sato and pc3 would still get over 40mpg even when Atlantabahn blasting.)

So many ideas, so little time and money.

Impasse time. I did a long day after Christmas ride yesterday and the bike did a couple of stumbles while freeway blasting that were pretty unnerving. Probably just bad fuel injection mapping that need a power commander or the like, but I'm thinking this is a good excuse to "ground" the bike and do the whole valvecheck/idle mix/tb sync process. Good thing I'm broke. :)

Yep - sometimes being broke can save you a bundle!

Good to hear you and your steed survived the get-off without too much damage.

I have a friend in far-off Queensland who has just bought an 1100 Evo 'Tard. He will be coming up with some bright ideas to improve it in the coming months, so I might be able to offer some more suggestions on how to blow your kids' inheritance..
