a stock 450 is not pushin 50 horses, not a honda anyway, it takes a different cam, piston, and on some headwork to achieve 50 hp

trx450r.org has several dyno sheets and there are sheets from the dirtbike 450s also

  3. ratchetman How fast will it go?

Where are you getting 60 from? Everything I can find says 74mph.
  4. phobe vfr1200fa.blogspot.com

And you would be right. I don't know where I got 60mph... from my ass I guess. Some guys on the forum claim they've had theirs up to 140 (87.5mph)
  5. ratchetman How fast will it go?

That would be a rush. I'm trying to convince my wife to buy one and learn how to ride.

    Perfect learner bike.
  7. ratchetman How fast will it go?

I just watched a video on utube where someone took a camera out while riding flat out on the 125. The speedo was close to 150kph that's more than 90 mph. Crazy

if you are talking crank hp then yes that can be achievable in stock trim by some of the brands, but to the wheel is what i was talking about. i cant open the trx site at work or i would do some snooping. i know on yfztech their 450s are not putting 50hp stock either.

phobia, any update info on this?

My wife has decided that she would like a bike. She likes the sportbike look but I'd say the 125 is the absolute max power and weight that she needs to deal with. Would it be worth the trouble of trying to get one imported? My other consideration just because they are easier to get would be an Aprilia RS50?

I dropped it off at my mom's house last weekend... she is using it to learn how to ride and having a great time with it. Absolutely perfect street bike for a learner; that is what it was designed for after all.

If it works the same in the US as it does in Canada, you can only register imported vehicles that are on a government list of eligible stuff. For all the grief you may go through to get one there and on the street, it might make more sense to just look for an old Ninja 250 or something.

Phobe, you still have this bike? Hindle now makes an exhaust for it as well as the 250. :)
