Need an exhaust for an 08 1000rr - thoughts?

Need to get a different exhaust for the RR so I'm starting to save my pennies now.
The bike made enough power as it was, so I'm thinking slip on might be fine...but I hate dropping $ to see no change in output and just get noise.
However, looking at full systems (and the gadgetry that goes along with them ) looks like it will add quite a bit and thats $$ I'd rather spend on rubber, trackdays, or rearsets.

Ultimately, this is due to me getting a little overzealous in the garage in the colder months...both rider and bike are fine.

If anyone here has one for sale lemme know...

I'm still running stock. I kinda figure when I can use all the power the bike makes, then I'd worry about upgrading. I haven't looked at the numbers lately, but mostly I couldn't justify spending $1500 for an extra 5 hp. I know you'd save about 15 lbs of weight by switching, which is worth something, but really in the long run it's money that will never be recouped, and hp that will never be utilized. It does suck sounding so quite though..

Is this similar to the "swingarm incident"?

You're missing my drift, what if you didn't have a choice and your stock exhaust was in the dumpster now? :p

:hmm: sort of...power tools were involved, it had zero performance gain, I was following through on something that worked out well for another member but so far is just ending up costing me lots :D

I'll share more once I get things on the right track again ;)

I vote send the bike to Shenders along with a case of his favorite beverage and a "please" note. :D

so you need a whole system now or a slip on? and don't forget to take it to Robb's or RJ's when its installed.

and when are you gonna start doing more track days? I know you like Tony's but I don't think I'll make any of his days because I have a pretty full calendar with 6 BoMo days (4 in NH) and racing 7 weekends plus Grattan.

You just missed Smooth's Taylor Made exhaust that he just sold ...

And I promise the weld quality will right up to my normal standards :)

A buddy of my mine bought a TBR system for his '08 - It was good looking but obnoxiously loud, IMHO.

Have you thought about looking for a used/'takeoff' system on eBay?

No experience one way or another but Arata sure makes a beautiful product. So does Akrapovich.

Is Hindle still around? They made decent exhausts for the 929 at a relative bargain compared to some others.

everything on Arata's site is on sale. not sure if that means bad things for the company or not but they do make some nice stuff. still expensive even on sale.

If you go TwoBros, pay the $20 or whatever it is for the 7db spud. It's worth it's weight in eardrums.

Does D&D make a pipe for that bike? I replaced the fragile TwoMothers on my SV with a D&D and loved it, it was really made well -- could take some abuse.

Edit: They do, but it's a double setup in case it matters.

Honestly I'm hoping to avoid actually needing to dyno...I don't ride it enough to justify all that, man...I just want to ride :D

I like Tony's for sure, but I hate NHMS so I don't book much. I hate driving longer distances too, so I'm kinda stuck. Honestly if it weren't for Grattan week I'd probably offer someone on here a sweet deal.

Haven't done a BoMo event yet...maybe someday. Me showing up at a trackday so you could lap me would be fun though :D

    That looks, noisy.

For a track focused bike, should be OK.

Was one of the first places I'm looked...unfortunately I'm too stupid to figure out their site and wtf I need to attempt to purchase

well a slip on which is what I'd probably go with if I was you and a downloaded map and you'll be all set.

I used to hate NHMS too until one day I just said I was gonna relax and have fun and not worry about the walls and stuff. had a blast that day and it was the day I broke through the proverbial wall and have been improving ever since.

Sign up for the first BoMo day. they run a good day and the group they attract are really good people. I'll only lap you if you can do a 1:29 cause they decided that's the cut off for the advanced group.
