A week or two ago the group I ride with posted on the local forum that they got thrown a last minute deal with White Mountain BMW Car Club (the organizer also rides and is on the local forum) to split a day with them just before their races this weekend. Bikes were supposed to be in the morning but after some suggestions they switched it to bikes in the afternoon and cars in the morning for warmth and traction issues in the morning being more of a concern on a bike. It was to be an open session for 4 hours because it was gonna be hit or miss for weather being so late in the season. The car guy said people could probably get a ride in the car if they wanted. So this guy posts up asking for a ride because he doesn't have a truck or trailer. It was to be his first track day ever and since he lived about 15 minutes away from and I'm still out of work I said I'd take him up but I wanted to get there early to try to get a ride in a car. He's also a car guy with a pretty built WRX so he wanted to also. So I go and pick him (Ian)and a friend (her name escapes me at the moment) of his up early and we get up there and there's no bikes there yet so we watched the cars for a bit then asked about getting a ride. The guy finds an instructor with an older M3 I think it was who was going out basically as a control driver and Ian's friend hops in for her ride. She comes back in and said it was fun but she was getting nauseous and said it was probably because she still has problems because of a major concussion 10 years ago. So we find there's only gonna be 1 more session where we can go for a ride and its decided I can take it since Ian will be riding today. I have to wait like 40 minutes for the last session of the morning which is instructors and fast drivers that don't need an instructor with them. Ended up getting the same instructor so I get in and he says he doesn't have his communicator so just yell if I want him to stop. We hit pit out which lets out on the exit of T2 but to the inside so its a clean merge in the shoot to T3. But he's fucking hammering it around the wall that's inside the apex of T2 so I'm thinking this is gonna be a little scary. He said it'll take a lap or so to get his tires up to temp but to me it felt like he was fucking going as we were going down the hill before T6 and he brakes so much later than bikes. He skips T12 and I'm a little confused but I was kinda scared so I didn't think much of it. I settle down after that and enjoy the rest of the session watching his lines and how they vary from a motorcycle line. They can only pass up to the apex I was told but I think also just on the straights (between 12-1, 2-3, and 10-11) and they give a wave by for the pass. We only got passed twice and both times on the front straight. once by a Vette and the other time by some race car that I don't know what it started life as but we were passing someone and he passed us both like we had an anchor out and were in reverse. On the cool down lap we were talking and I told him where our lines were different from his and when we get to pit in I tell him we take a right there into T12 and he's shocked that we go that way but figures its probably to slow us down since we pick up so much more speed on the straight due to power:weight. The yellow line is where the cars differentiate from the motorcycle line. That white area in 3 is all paved and he runs right over the rumble strip basically with his left tires going over the motorcycle apex. The other thing I noticed was he kept the same lines through 9 but most other cars were keeping it very wide to the right (closer to edge by the 9). They also don't call it 1A/2, they call them 2A and 2B. They also aren't running over grass as this map would make you believe, that green strip between the pit and the straight is paved with a wall separating them (remember its obviously paved because its the Nascar pit in and out at each end). He only had 170hp but it was still a ton of fun. only thing that woulda been better was going with the SCCA racer who was flying in his F430 (and it was his first time at NHMS). His friend looked like he was gonna puke and shit himself when he got out after his ride in it but had a smile on his face.

Wow...... sounds like it was a blast. "His friend looked like he was gonna puke and shit himself "................If you just feel like puking, or just feel like shitting it was an ok ride.......feeling/looking like both at once was an excellent ride.
