Ohlins respring and rebuild!

    I feel that it's high time to rebuild the Ohlins considering that it has at least 13000 miles on it and several track days. Also, the spring is too stiff for my weight, even though I was able to get the correct sag, since the shock is out, I have the correct spring to put in ready and waiting.

    The shock came out in about 1 hour so that wasn't too bad. It'll go back in faster I think.

    In the near future I'll freshen up the Ohlins forks and replace the spark plugs. I also have a used PCIII coming and I will get the bike tuned at the dyno. This is the winter of the bike projects!!!

    How heavy of a spring did you have on there?

    Dunno, the previous owner put the Ohlins on the bike and he was ~25 heavier than me. I called Ohlins up after I bought the bike and they sent me the right spring for my weight. The two springs have different numbers on them but I'd have to look them up for actual poundages. I'll dig up the info for ya.

    Springs are a big deal. Apparently Rossi spends most of his warm-up times trying different springs for each track. They carry dozens, front and rear.

    Depo, the receipt says that the old spring was for a 200-210 lb rider w/gear. My new spring is 01093-59. I can get the actual spring number from the old one if you need it.

    Old spring is a 01093-69/170 L512 . Not sure what the weight is for it. I'm having trouble finding that on the net, but the spring rate is supposed to be the 3rd number; 170 and the units are newton meters.
