So a LONG overdue refresh is starting today :D I procrastinated way to long and the calipers were even hanging a bit at Road Atlanta last time out.

First a question: when there is two part numbers for what appears to be the same part which do you chose? Sometimes it is easy as one looks discontinued but other times...

    Ronayers.com Microfiche Honda>Motorcycle>2002>RVT1000R>FRONT BRAKE CALIPER

In particular see how item 1 & 2 both have two entries. Both show up in the cart but you should only need one or the other

Sheep, are you buying whole new calipers?

you do what I did and buy the cheaper ones and go to install them and find out they are the wrong ones so you have to order the more expensive ones.

No sir just new seal and clean I think. The piston look mint (I plan on measuring it though). I think the sticking was me not cleaning them enough :o

I have figured out the difference but it does not help me. The 00-01 has larger pistons in the calipers than 02+ but the fiche does not give sizes nor specify which is which. And even an 00 shows both

Some pictures. You can see the backing plates were getting hot and I am not sure why but the halve boltes were corroded. They were from day one which is bizarre since everything on the bike was in great shape and garage kept, I plan on replacing them.

Hopefully someone on Rogue remembers which is which

    They corrode from brake fluid.

Talk to the guy at Ayers, he probably knows which one you want or can pre-arrange a return.

What an enormous burden. You have my complete sympathy for the arduous task ahead of you. Not just anyone could talk to a knowledgeable and friendly customer service guy on the phone; it takes someone who can really push through the discomfort and terror, displaying unimaginable reserves of tenacity, courage and endurance.

    Make sure you hydrate first.

    Why an R6?

I would buy both, but that's just me. Finding out that I had ordered wrong/not enough part has a detrimental effect on me. Largely due to complete 180 degree change in emotion and instant lack of nicotine at that moment. Super-excited to WTF-GAWDAMNIT-I-GOTTA-WAIT-ANOTHER-WEEK-FOR-THIS-LIL-SHIT-I-NEED-A-FCKN-CIG. Haha.

Not enthused about Honda of late. The Yamaha's are interesting. Not to interested in Suzuki or Kawi. Triumph is interesting. Ducati is real neat but I think the hassle factor of no dealer within a couple of hours and cost will keep me away.

what the what? an inline 600, you off your meds?

the current gen R6 is the choice of the current fast racers up here but a current a gen CBR6 I think would suit you just fine also. I think the CBR isn't the choice simply because of contingency money. I liked Richards ZX6, MONSTER motor but the ergonomics were a little off for me.
