I realize this may be a dumb question but could I reuse my HRC piston and just install new rings and wristpin? Visually it looks very good. I'd still send it to Swaintech to get fresh coatings, Millenium will be doing my bore and you send the piston to them and they match the bore exactly to whatever you send them.

A new HRC piston is $333. Wiseco, JE, and Ross also make pistons for it. That are much less money, but I like the power delivery and overall package so well as it that I don't want to change anything so would like to keep the HRC piston.

My piston had a lot of those bearing particles imbedded in it. I would use a new one.

I wouln't be concerned about using one of those other pistons either, the difference is probably negligible and it might even last longer....

From an aircraft mechanic - new rings and rock on.

Since your doing the cylinder, and they can hone it on the tight side if the piston is a little worn, if its in good shape, i would run it. I would send the piston to Millenium with the jug so they can hone it to the clearance you need.

My bikes have had several pistons reused after honing the cylinder and replacing the rings.

I'll get some pics up. It looks much better than that. I've had a change of heart and realized that as a percentage of the total cost it's minimal so I'll just do a new piston.
