Stolen Repsol

My repsol was stolen back around April. I had made a claim on my house recently due to storm damage. While trying to obtain info on my house i wound up speaking to the agent that was wrapping up my bike claim. When the original claim was filed, they were supose to notify me as to where the bike went so that i could possibly purchase it back. (the bike was recovered and they would not let me buy it back)

After several months of not hearing anything, I had given up. After speaking with the claims dept, she informed me that the bike had not been auctioned of yet do to a delay on paperwork. I inquired again about buying the bike back. She told me that it would have a parts only title, and that was what they were waiting on. I told her that i still wanted it back so now they are going to put a hold on it when it goes to auction, meaning that after the high bid goes in on it they will call me and give me a chance to beat the high bid.

Does anyone by chance know what they usually go for at salvage auctions?

Have you seen any pictures of it or know what the damage is? TThat plus the title will make a biiiig difference in the price. With a parts only title, I don't *think* that is rebuildable so it would be track only...

Sentimental value aside, make sure it's worth buying back before you do it. You have a really nice RR now, so unless you are buying it back for a track bike only, I'd make sure and give it a really good look before you buy it back. Have you been able to see it yet?

i have not seen it yet. just based off the police report the bodywork and the keyswitch are trash.

i was thinking of using it as a track only bike. i guess i should check it out though and make sure the frame and forks aren't messed up.

Yeah, that can be a big gamble... its obvious when they are really messed up but subtle damage can be a bitch...

i might be better off just to leave it alone and spend the money on some nice riding gear, and upgrades for my bike

What I would probably do is go on ebay and make a price list of all the parts on the bike. Add it all up and don't pay any more than that. Sadly your frame isn't worth anything because of that title. Frames are about $2k-$3k, with a clean title. Probably $500 or less the way it is now. I probably wouldn't pay more than $4000, and that is if it's just plastic damage (and ignition)

:thumb: Now you're talkin! I wouldn't even bother with it. You've moved on to a new ride, upgrade everything for that!

I would think you would be better off track wise to put that $ towards the RC51 track plan.

    Oh yeah, definately! :D
