    My guess is that they would sidestep it altogether buy building a traditional dual clutch. Afaik, Honda's patent is centered around the coaxial concept that shortens and lightens things... :dunno:

    I haven't done a patent search, but I'm guessing BMW has IP around DCT.

    They do, but the Honda coaxial design offers some significant width advantages.

    Just a guess, but the packaging constraints may be less of a problem on an I4, allowing a traditional biaxial layout... :dunno:
