![]() Welcome to MCADX Magazine, a new feature of the MotorcycleAddicts.org forum. It’s all part of our addiction – none of us are able to leave well enough alone. We are constantly making our bikes faster, louder, lighter, more agile, more purposeful, and more beautiful …or at least more reflective! Parts cross continents continually, recombining to create something different, something better, and something worthy of our passion. We also find ways to improve the most important component: the rider. We are compelled to study long hours in order to improve our technique - at least, that’s how I explain my bathroom library of motorcycle books and magazines to my wife. This investment of time and treasure pays off in safety and enjoyment, whether it involves formal training or just hours of practice, discussion, and evaluation. We’ve been riding this forum for about a year, it’s time for a couple of changes, don’t you think? We have some good writers stacked up in the corner and a couple of talented photographers under those tarps. We’ve got some tech guys who can manipulate their electronic magic to make this all seem as easy as riding a MotoGP bike. Let the modifications begin! We want to build a framework that will keep alive the great stories we’ve read in the forum this year, and which will attract more storytellers. We want to give a voice to riders who are fuelling their addiction in unusual ways, and to take advantage of the access we have to prominent motorcycle industry figures who share our obsession. We hope you’ll enjoy this magazine as it develops, and that you’ll feel welcome to help shape it. If you have an idea for story or an essay, or if you know a motorcycle addict with a story to tell, please don’t hesitate to contact me at CBRVFR@motorcycleaddicts.net. Now, let’s see where this road takes us. Dave Solo Editor |
The Heart of the Addiction The dusty evidence of my lifetime of hobbies and interests is laying dormant in boxes. I have found, like many of you, something more compelling, enduring and addictive about motorcycling; the life-long claim these machines and the people who surround them seem to have on our hearts. This section contains stories of people who embrace this addiction and have let it change their lives, and ours.
They say experience is the best teacher, and I think that’s true. For motorcycle addicts like us, these experiences can include skinned knuckles, frustration from wrenching our bikes, dropping a bike in our garage, or even suffering a painful and expensive crash. This section is designed to be a collection of our motorcycle experiences, whether comical or tragic (or somewhere in between), so that others can learn along with us.
Whether or not there is such thing as an 'addictive personality', there is indisputably an 'abundance of personality' among motorcycle addicts. The typical motorcycle addict is opinionated, outspoken, competitive, and has a great sense of humor. The submissions in this section may not necessarily be about motorcycles, but as fellow addicts we hope they’ll give you a quick fix.
It’s been said that a wise man learns from his mistakes and an intelligent man learns from others' mistakes. We’ve all spent money on products, services and companies only to find out later that others preceded us in the same endeavor with the same results, good and bad. This is the section where you can help out your fellow riders by pointing them in the right direction.
We value your input as we work to develop this magazine into an enjoyable resource. Please give us the benefit of your comments, questions, or ideas. Don't be shy, post 'em up- this is the place! Thanks MCADX Editors
